Covid-19 Update #2

Good Morning,

First, I would like to thank all of you for your patience and understanding during these difficult times. I wanted to provide you an update for our Little League plans for the 2020 Season. Phase 4 is set to open July 1st and Governor Cuomo announced that youth sports can resume on July 6th.  It is exciting that we will be able to get a season in this year, but it will look a bit different.

The Board has made the difficult decision to cancel our Tee Ball and Instructional programs this season. In reviewing the safety and social distancing guidelines, the Board found it will be too difficult to administer these age groups and it would no longer be fun for the kids. For those that are registered for in these divisions you have two options with your registration fee: 1. You can receive a full refund less any administrative fees our league incurred (credit card transaction fees and Sports Connect processing fees); 2. The league would kindly accept any refunds to be used as a donation to the league. If you would like to choose the donation option, please reply to this email letting us know and we will remove you from the refund list.  Those choosing to receive a refund no email is required, and you will be refunded in the upcoming weeks.

We are excited to announce that we will be having a season for our Major's and Minor's (AAA, AA) Divisions.  Please know that it is your decision to have your child play.  If you do not want to participate in this year's season, please email me at: [email protected] by the end of the day on Friday, June 19th.  We will need to make adjustments to team rosters and order uniforms the following week. Please note, after this date, if we have to cancel for any reason, we will not provide a refund.

Please note that the Little League Board will require Covid-19 waiver to be signed by the parents/guardians for all players who are participating in any Little League activities. Coaches will have copies of the waiver at the first practice and will not allow player participation in practice until it is signed. In addition, the Covid-19 safety plan is here for your review

Due to the safety and social distancing guidelines all coaches, players, umpires, and spectators will have to follow social distancing guidelines.  We will only be allowed to have 2-3 kids in the dugout at a time with 1-2 coaches all separated by 6 feet.  The kids not in the dugout will be placed in the bleacher's outside of the dugout and will be monitored by a coach/parent volunteer. The bleachers will not be available for families this year and you are encouraged to bring your own seating. Our concession stand will only be available for drinks and prepackaged snacks.  We will not have a full functioning concession stand based on the NY State and CDC safety recommendations.  Per the state guidelines, they are limiting 2 spectators per player.  We ask that families sit together and remain socially distant from other families.  This may require seating to extend around the field including the outfield fencing.  The plan will be to mark socially distanced family boxes. Bathrooms will be limited to 1 person at a time.  Parents will be allowed to accompany a younger child if needed. Masks are recommended and encouraged. They are required when you are unable to keep the 6 feet social distancing. It will be imperative that all family members are healthy and showing no symptoms of Covid-19 or any other illness that could be spread to a group.  If anyone in your family has symptoms, we ask that you keep your child home until symptom free for 72 hours.

Our plan for the season is to start practices Monday, July 6th with the first games starting Saturday, July 18th. Our season will run through the end of August and possibly first week of September depending on rain outs. You will hear from your coach in the upcoming week about practice schedules and plans.  Please note, that due to cancellations of some registrants or volunteers unable to coach any longer, your coach may have changed.

We ask that you be patient with the league and volunteers during this season as we have never experienced a season like this before.

Thank you for your understanding and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to myself or any board member.

Thank you,

Jeff Paolozzi
